The Alutaguse luxury bear hides offer an excellent opportunity to watch bears and other wildlife from luxury conditions. In addition to the brown bears, the hides are frequently visited by raccoon dogs, occasionally by moose, badgers, wild boars, roe deer, and rarely by wolves and lynxes, as well as numerous bird species. Alutaguse is considered the bear stronghold of Estonia, as nearly half of the country’s approximately 1,000 bears inhabit the forests and wetlands of this region. Our hides are located in the western part of Alutaguse, near the Sirtsi Bog, just a 1.5-hour drive from Tallinn or Tartu.

It is like a fully equipped hotel suite in the heart of nature among bears, featuring a large double bed, comfortable chairs, a table, a shower, a refrigerator, a toilet, and other amenities for an exclusive getaway.
The Lux Hide is primarily designed for couples, but if needed, it can accommodate an additional 1-2 people with an extra bed.
Overview
One wall of the hide is made of triple-layer mirrored glass, while the other three walls are wooden. The hide is equipped with electricity, a separate shower room, a toilet, and a small kitchenette featuring a refrigerator, a coffee machine, a kettle, and some delightful surprises waiting for you.
The hide offers a view of a forest clearing with scattered trees and a small pond. In addition to bears, raccoon dogs and sometimes wild boars frequently visit the pond. Occasionally, moose and deer come to graze, and on rare occasions, wolves or lynxes may dash across the clearing. This open space in the middle of the forest is also an excellent spot for birdwatching, especially for observing various birds of prey.
Soft, diffused lighting has been installed around the hide, ensuring that animals remain undisturbed while allowing for wildlife observation throughout the night.
A unique feature of the hide is a sensitive microphone placed outside, capturing the sounds of the forest and playing them through indoor speakers. On some quiet nights, the immersive soundscape can provide an even more powerful nature experience than the visuals—guests have heard bears grumbling, raccoon dogs squabbling, a wolf pack howling, moose calling for mates, or the whistling of a pygmy owl.
