On Sunday I saw the first brown bear tracks in Alutaguse. If most of Estonia is already without snow then in N-E of Estonia I was able to track bears about 1 km in the forest. But March sun melts the tracks quickly and i ended up nowhere. But i still had a taste of how and where bears move in the forests. Those big mammals squeeze themselves thru trees and bushes, avoid open areas, but sometimes walk long distances on the forest roads or on the ice in the ditches.
Tracks i saw belonged to males and females without cubs. In couple of weeks young cubs should be around.
Our brown bear hides are set up for new season. Small photo hide got new ball head for photographers.
